McClellan-Palomar Airport Wildlife Hazard Assessment

McClellan Airport Wildlife AssessHELIX Environmental Planning (HELIX) assisted C&S Engineers in a year-long Wildlife Hazard Assessment study at the McCellan-Palomar Airport located in the City of Carlsbad in northern portion of San Diego County. The study consisted of monthly early-morning and late-afternoon avian point count surveys, quarterly nighttime spotlight surveys, and semi-annual small mammal trapping sessions. The purpose of the study was to document wildlife activity at and in the vicinity of the airport to determine the presence or absence of a significant hazard to air carrier operations.
