Education

Since 1991, HELIX has developed an outstanding reputation providing consulting services to the public and private sectors, including many universities, community colleges, research institutes, and school districts throughout California. We help educational institutions navigate the complexities of environmental compliance issues so they can stay focused on their ever-important role. Our services have included California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)/National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, biological resource assessments, regulatory permitting, mitigation monitoring and compliance, cultural resource management, air quality and greenhouse gas emissions analysis, acoustical studies, native habitat restoration (design, installation, and maintenance), and construction monitoring.

Higher Education Services

HELIX has completed hundreds of environmental documents/compliance programs for local colleges and universities, and we understand the issues associated with implementation of campus improvement or expansion, including master planning efforts and the provision of student housing. Our experience also includes environmental compliance for the expansion and/or improvement of numerous colleges and universities, including UC San Diego, UC Riverside, Palomar Community College, Grossmont Community College, Cuyamaca Community College, Mt. San Antonio Community College, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, and California State University, San Marcos.

K-12 Education Services

HELIX has experience with several K-12 school districts, including providing environmental services for the San Diego County Superintendent of Schools, San Diego Unified School District, San Marcos Unified School District, Oceanside Unified School District, Carlsbad Unified School District, Grossmont Union High School District, Sweetwater Union High School District, and various private and charter schools, among others. Tasks for K-12 schools often include providing environmental compliance support for facility infrastructure improvements funded by local bonds.

EDUCATING OUR COMMUNITY

At HELIX, we take pride in supporting the communities in which we live and work. We provide active support and participation in volunteer activities that aid in educating our community. These have included past activities such as Sacramento Splash, where we sponsored a vernal pool educational class for children. We participated in the Expanding Your Horizons Conference at the University of San Diego, helping to educate and inspire girls in the areas of science, math, and engineering. Most recently, HELIX has participated in outreach to colleges/universities at collegiate job fairs, serving as poster judges, participating in career panels, and sponsoring scholarships to increase diversity in the environmental profession.
