HELIX Biologists lead Riparian Habitat Restoration Class for the Wetland Training Institute

      August 24, 2012

HELIX Biologists Larry Sward and Sally Trnka will be leading a Riparian Habitat Restoration Class for the Wetland Training Institute on September 10 and 11.  The class, which is part lab and part field, provides a basic understanding of habitat restoration/replacement of functions and services of wetland and riparian areas. Classroom sessions will cover the fundamental elements of site selection, preparation, and installation essential to successful restoration planning. Field trips will center on case studies that illustrate how these elements come together to make a successful restoration project as well as common mistakes that are made during the process.  HELIX biologists regularly lead botanical, jurisdictional and restoration oriented field classes for students that include regulatory agencies and other consultants.
