Big Increase Means Small Business

Mar 14, 2012 | Newsroom

The federal Small Business Administration has increased 37 small business size standards in North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Sector 54, Professional, Technical, and Scientific Services.

This change is important for companies doing business with the federal government because most federal contracts require a small business subcontracting plan, and some federal contracts are set-aside entirely for small business enterprises.

Among the changes, which became effective March 12, are increases in the size standards for Environmental Consulting Services (NAICS 541620) and Engineering Services (NAICS 541330) to $14 million. These limits are at least double the previous size standards for these codes and are now consistent with the $14 million small business size standard applied by the State of California Department of General Services.

As a result of these increases, HELIX is now both a federal and state small business enterprise, and we can help our teaming partners achieve their small business participation goals on federal, state, and even many local government contracts.
