Tule Wind Energy Project

HELIX Environmental Planning (HELIX) provided biological and habitat restoration services for Iberdrola Renewables’ Tule Wind Energy Project located in the McCain Valley, near the community of Boulevard in eastern San Diego County. The proposed project includes up to 62 wind turbines, associated access roads, a 138-kV gen-tie transmission line, and permanent meteorological towers. As part of the pre-construction support on the project, HELIX prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) that analyzed the use of three herbicides to control weed populations on the project site. HELIX also provided oversight of revisions to nearly 70 project plans for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and County of San Diego approval, including the Weed Management Plan, Habitat Restoration Plan, Habitat Mitigation Plan, and Dust Control Plan.
