As the Southern California Construction Group Division Manager, Erik leads a large team responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining habitat restoration projects and revegetation projects that span a variety of habitats, project sizes, and sectors across the region. He oversees the strategy, performance, and operation of the division, with a focus on employee development, business development, strategic planning, and financial performance.
Erik finds true meaning and pride in the visible impact of our restoration work. Knowing that the habitats and ecosystems we build today will be preserved and seen for decades to come serves a permanent mark on our commitment to California’s native environment.
With a career devoted to environmentally complex construction and habitat restoration projects, Erik specializes in developing and implementing site specific and adaptive management approaches that integrate regulatory compliance with construction means and methods. He is experienced in environmental plan development; constructability and design review; preparation and response to agency comments; mitigation compliance coordination; habitat restoration and enhancement; weed management; and sensitive species translocation.
Also serving as HELIX’s Environmental Compliance Practice Lead, Erik routinely coordinates with prime contractors, subcontractors, permitting agencies, biological monitors, and restoration crews to implement permit conditions and environmental compliance measures in active construction environments. Erik holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistical Sciences, both from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
