HELIX Environmental Planning prepared the technical studies and provided CEQA and NEPA, landscape design, and visual simulation services for this pedestrian bridge project, working as a subconsultant to Simon Wong Engineering (now Kleinfelder). The bridge provides access for local school children from residential areas to Shoal Creek Elementary School and helps to improve overall safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. HELIX’s landscape architects created the conceptual landscape plan, prepared construction documents including planting and irrigation plans, and authored the Visual Impact Assessment Report. The new landscape replaced the existing water-intensive plants with ornamental, low-water use, drought-tolerant plants that are visually compatible with the surrounding existing landscape.
