Assuring that adverse environmental impacts are minimized and mined lands are reclaimed to a usable condition, requires a broad range of environmental services and a thorough understanding of all applicable regulations and policies of the Office of Mine Reclamation (OMR) and the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act of 1975 (SMARA).

HELIX has prepared environmental documents and conducted supporting technical studies for a number of new and expanding mining operations and other resource extraction projects. We’re familiar with the complex permitting requirements and regulatory structure for mines, and the complicated regulations and procedures for the multiple agencies that are so often involved.

We have worked closely with clients on mine reclamation plans in addition to a number of landfill projects, and we have developed and implemented habitat restoration plans for closed sites. From environmental planning and permitting, to managing natural and cultural resources along with Native American consultation, HELIX has the comprehensive expertise necessary to help keep mining and reclamation projects in compliance.
