Pacific Gateway Cargo Center at LA/Ontario International Airport

Pacific Gateway CargoHELIX Environmental Planning (HELIX) prepared an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and oversaw the preparation of technical studies for an air cargo complex at LA/Ontario International Airport in the City of Ontario in San Bernardino County. The proposed project included roughly one million square feet of interior cargo, ground support, office, retail, and ancillary facilities, as well as more than one million square feet of aircraft parking areas. Preparation of the EIR was conducted in coordination with the proposed project developer (Aeroterm/Aero Ontario LLC), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the City of Ontario, and the applicant’s technical specialists. HELIX worked closely with the proposed project developer to generate estimates of the air cargo tonnage that would be generated by the project and the anticipated airport fleet mix that would serve the project. This information was critical to the analysis of air quality and noise impacts associated with project-related aircraft use, as well as to the assessment of surface transportation impacts.
